New Stitch Knitch

Looking for something new ... easy .... quick?  any of these stitches would work great as a washcloth or a blanket ... as a scarf or on a sweater!   put them all together and you'd have a beautiful 'scrap' quilt.

* Looking for an EDGE that won't roll ???
This option works best with 4 or 6 stitches for edging.
*Slip 1 stitch purlwise with yarn in front, K 1* repeat on border stitches.
 - - knit the body of the scarf/blanket - -
end w/ same border pattern:  *Slip 1 stitch purlwise with yarn in front, K1* repeat on remaining stitches.


* Slip Stitch Ribbing

Row 1:  (RS)  *Purl 2, Slip 2 purlwise with yarn in front*
Row 2:  (WS)  Knit 2, Purl 2

NOTE:  On the Slip Stitches make sure that you leave a sufficient amount of yarn so that the stitch will float and lay smoothly and not distort or pull the scarf.

Row 1:  knit edge stitches, *yo, K2, K3tog, repeat from *, knit edge stitches.
Row 2:  knit edge stitches, *purl, repeat from *, knit edge stitches.










Lacy Zigzag

(multiple of 6 + 1)
Row 1: (RS) *SKP, K2, YO, K2; rep from * to last stitich, K1.
Row 2: Purl
Rows 3-6: Rep Rows 1 and 2 twice.
Row 7: K3, *YO, K2, K2tog, K2; rep from * to last 4 stitches, YO, K2, K2tog.
Row 8: Purl
Rows 9-12: Repeat Rows 7 and 8 twice.

Repeat these 12 rows for desired length.


Basketweave Stitch
(multiple of 6 stitches)
Using size 7 needles, cast on 38 stitches.
Row 1(RS): Knit
Row 2: Purl
Row 3: k1, *k1, p4, k1*, repeat * * to last stitch, k1.
Row 4: p1, *p1, k4, p1*, repeat * * to last stitch, p1.
Row 5: Repeat Row 3.
Row 6: Repeat Row 4.
Row 7: Knit
Row 8: Purl
Row 9: K1, *p2, k2, p2*, repeat * * to last stitch, k1.
Row 10: P1, *k2, p2, k2*, repeat * * to last stitch, p1.
Row 11: Repeat Row 9.
Row 12: Repeat Row 10.

Moss Stitch
(multiple of 4 stitches)
Cast on 38 stitches.
Row 1: K2, P2 to end of row.
Row 2: P2, K2 to end of row.
Row 3: P2, K2 to end of row.
Row 4: K2, P2 to end of row.
Repeat Rows 1-4 for desired length.
Bind off.



Honeycomb Stitch
(multiple of 4 stitches) 
[this stitch uses 2 different colors of yarn, carried up the side when not in use]
Cast on 34 stitches in Color A and Knit 3 rows.
Row 1 (RS): With Color B, k3, *k2, sl2 wyib; rep from *, end k3
Row 2: With Color B, k3, *sl2 wyif, p2; rep from *, end k3
Rows 3 and 4: With Color A, knit
Row 5: With Color B, k3, *sl2 wyib, k2; rep from *, end k3
Row 6: With Color B, k3, *p2, sl2 wyif; rep from *, end k3
Rows 7 and 8: Rep Rows 3 and 4
Rep Rows 1-8 until about 8-10 inches.
With Color A, knit 3 rows.
Cast off by using a purl cast off rather than the regular knit cast on .... purling the stitches and passing one over the other will compliment the garter stitch.
